In spite of its longstanding relationship with Seattle's gay community, Matthew Walsh is the first gay owner of the restaurant in its decades-long existence. In 2010, Matthew Walsh purchased the restaurant, and re-named it The Grill on Broadway, and changed the food and drink menu to reflect a focus on artisanal and craft cocktails and locally sourced foods.
